The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is set to launch the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope today from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and SpaceX facilities.
The team held a mission dress rehearsal ten days ago in preparation for the launch. The end-to-end simulation tested all launch-day operations from communications to mission systems, including powering up the spacecraft and refueling the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.
NASA stated that the Roman mission is “to address essential questions about dark energy, planets outside our solar system, and infrared astrophysics. By conducting wide-field surveys, the telescope will explore the universe’s structure, evolution, and composition.”
